Chocolate Sauce and Chocolate Syrup Recipe

These days Masala TV is presenting an extraordinary show named cooking on budget. Tahir chaudhry is hosting the program. One day I tuned into the program and i was hooked. He is doing it so well with practical tips and actual prices of ingredients in the market. The first program i watched was how to make condensed milk, hot chocolate sauce and chocolate syrup. I missed the earlier part of the recipe so i emailed him to send it to me. He has kindly sent it to me today. It is so good that I want to share it with you too. Following are the recipes of hot chocolate and chocolate syrup.

Cocoa Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

1½ cups of milk

30g of butter

4 tbsp of sugar

4 tbsp of  cocoa powder

2 tbsp of cream

1½ tbsp of corn flour

½ tsp of vanilla essence

Method

Blend together the milk, sugar, cocoa powder and corn flour with a whisk until a smooth paste has formed.

Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and heat over a medium heat until the mixture begins to boil.

Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.

Remove the pan from the stove and add the butter. Stir the butter until it melts and blends into the sauce mixture.

Finally, add the vanilla essence and the cream and stir well.

Serve the sauce warm with your favorite pudding / ice cream etc

Chocolate Syrup

 Chocolate Sauce and Chocolate Syrup Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup cold water

¼ teaspoon salt

2-3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Method

In a medium saucepan, whisk cocoa and sugar until all the lumps of cocoa are gone. Add water and salt and mix well with whisk. Cook over medium heat, bringing it to a boil. Keep boiling until thick, stirring to keep from scalding.

Remove from heat and allow to cool. When cool, add vanilla. Pour into an airtight glass container or a squeeze bottle and keep refrigerated.

To make chocolate milk, use at least 1 tablespoon of syrup for every 8 ounces of milk, adding more to taste.
