In this post I’m going to talk about the importance of food not because it is a World Food Day today. There are two reasons to address this topic. Firstly I have become more interested in food and its role in our lives lately. Secondly thousands of bloggers from all over the world are blogging about it as it is also a Blog Action Day. Last year I had the honor of participating in this prestigious event and we bloggers talked about clean water and its accessibility to the masses.
We can talk about food in many ways. Food is the fuel our body consume to get going so that we can perform our day to day activities effectively. Just like so many people I used to take food for granted for a long time. But it changed after becoming a mom. There are people in this world who are suffering from the lack of it and at some places food wastage is a big issue.
How important is food for you?
Since the blog is about housewives and moms so I am going to talk about the importance of food for mothers. Motherhood is a great responsibility and it requires a lot from you. It is a known fact that mothers whether they are working moms or stay at home mothers are great at multitasking.
Are mothers in a position to take food for granted?
No, not at all.
Motherhood is a glorious feeling but to feel this glory you have to be in a good shape both physically and mentally. Now you’ll be thinking how food can make you feel good about yourself?

Food is the fuel to get the fine machinery of your body going to carry out your day to day responsibilities. So if you don’t feed your body properly you’ll have to face the consequences at sometime in your life. Hypothyroid, PCOS/PCOD, diabetes, osteoporosis are some of the disease that women suffer from due to malnutrition.
To be an ideal mom not only you have to feed your kids but you also have to participate in their lives. To make it work mothers have to feel fit and good about themselves. Food is one of the few things that can help you achieve that end.
To be fit and happy you don’t have to consume fancy food that you see in TV ads and magazines. Eat food that you like the most and you are accustomed to eating all your life. Don’t try to change your eating habits just because you are married now and your husband likes to eat something different. The worst mistake is to consciously and conveniently forget eating just so you have other things to do. Eating at right time and freshly cooked home food is the best thing that you can do for yourself.
So from now on try to know more about your food other than counting calories. It will not only benefit you in the long run but you’ll also be able to help your kids have healthy eating habits.
