When I was in school, there were so many books and notebooks I had to carry in my school bag that my shoulders and hands used to ache. I used to wonder whether it was possible to get rid of this heavy load.
Children still carry heavy bags to the school. Though sometimes parents or servants have to carry that load. Now a days there are also school bags with a built in trolley just as the traveling bags. But not every one can afford them.
How about a laptop which contains all the books, notebooks and everything that is needed at the school. Seems like a good idea! But it is not just an idea any more. It has become a reality. Take a look at these pictures:
This project is initiated by a non profit organization named OLPC(One Laptop per Child). According to Wikipedia,
Its mission is "To create educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning."
One Laptop per Child (OLPC) said it would be "available in 2012" and would cost "well below $100".
Above are pictures of XO-3, only a vision that exists in pictures so far. There are skeptics who don’t believe that a laptop like this can be made for such a low cost but who knows.
I am keeping my fingers crossed!
